Corona Virus Appeal

Corona virus has reached Tanzania.

As the world’s population goes into lockdown, healthcare facilities become overwhelmed and the economies of the wealthiest nations go into recession, spare a thought for what this means in Tanzania, one of the poorest countries of the world.

As the first confirmed cases of corona virus reach Tanzania, Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) in Moshi Town has instituted a multifaceted plan to support our staff, children and the wider community. Already, food prices are rising, basic hygiene items are in short supply and our emergency reserves held in GBP have plummeted in value by over 10%.

We are urgently appealing for your support to enable us to:

1) Distribute 1,000s of hygiene kits with anti-bacterial soap for the elderly and vulnerable at a cost of £3/$4 each.

2) Support 100s of households in Moshi Town who have suffered unemployment due to the pandemic with fortnightly food baskets for the next 3 months. Each food basket costs £25/$30.

3) Deliver an information campaign including printing 50,000 pamphlets, visiting 100s of individual households and conducting public announcements around town in partnership with Moshi Municipality.
